President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, visited RIKEN AICS

Prof. Dr. Ralph Eichler, President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, visited RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science (AICS) with five guests on October 9, 2012 in order to discuss possible collaboration based on the existing agreement between RIKEN and ETH.

AICS is one of the leading institutes of computer science and computational science, while ETH places emphasis on developing algorithms and software to maximize computer performance. Consequently, AICS and ETH agreed to begin collaborative research to develop algorithms and software in several research fields, such as climate change and development of new materials.

After the discussion the guests viewed the K computer from the visitors' theater.
