Visit to AICS by Mr. Seán Sherlock, Irish Minister of State for Research and Innovation

On November 1, 2012, Mr. Sean Sherlock, Irish Minister of State for Research and Innovation and 10 executive members of the Global Business Development of the Irish Government visited the RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science (AICS) as part of a stop in Kobe.

The purpose of their visit to Kobe was to promote cooperation between Ireland and the companies and research organizations located in Kobe’s Port Island, in what is known as the KOBE Biomedical Innovation Cluster. There is significant potential for collaborations since Ireland’s major industries include pharmaceuticals, biomedicine, agriculture and software.

While at AICS, the minister expressed a strong interest in the potential use of simulation technology for various industries, including drug design.
