Youth Workshop from February 5 to 6, 2018 in Kobe, Japan
RIKEN AICS will organize a Youth Workshop for young researchers and students in computational science and technology. Through English presentations and discussions, this workshop aims to create a network of collaborations among young researchers, and to foster their research communication skills in an international setting, as well as improving their own research through the discussion.

2. Purpose
- This workshop aims at creating a network of collaborations among young researchers, and at improving their research communication skills.
- This workshop is open to young researchers at corporations, universities and research institutes (including technical colleges and graduate schools) who is expected to become the next-generation leaders in the fields of computational science and high-performance computing.
- Young researchers from overseas will participate in this workshop. To encourage participants to take the initiative in interacting with each other, presentations and group discussions will be held in English in small groups.
- AICS staffs will serve as mentors for each group and participate in the discussions.
- We will also hold 'the 8th AICS International Symposium'at the same venue from Feb.7-8 for discussing leading-edge research and development activities in high performance computing. For youth workshop participants, we recommend to join the event and poster presentation.

4. Application requirements
- Approximately 20 seats (10-15 seats for applicants from Japan. 5-10 seats for applicants from overseas)are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Adjustments may be made to balance applicants from different college and other institutes.

- Participants should have a clear motive for participating in this workshop, such as being involved in computational science or computer science research.
- It is assumed that the participants bring your notebook computer for making presentations during the workshop.

- Full participation for the duration of the program is required.
- RIKEN will pay for students's travel and accommodation expenses.
- Travel expenses include transportation fee to/from Kobe, and the fee between hotel and AICS during the workshop.
- Expenses will be reimbursed after the workshop via bank transfer in accordance with RIKEN regulations.
