RIKEN, the University of Tsukuba, and Fujitsu Limited announced that the K computer became No. 1 in three benchmarks at the 2012 HPC Challenge Awards Competition. It was held in SC12 and announced on November 13, 2012.
The HPC Challenge Class 1 Awards evaluate the performance of supercomputers from four different angles*, and the K computer became No.1 for the following three benchmarks;
- Global HPL
- EP STREAM (Triad) per system
- Global FFT
*For Global RandomAccess, the K computer is 1st runnerup.
